December 2017 was an exciting month of Big Birge Plumbing in Omaha. There were so many great moments and company accomplishments, we just wanted to share some of them with you, our loyal customers and friends in our communities.
The Midlands Business Journal Publication gave us a huge honor by awarding owner, Brad Birge, the name sack of the company, its prestigious “2017 40 Under 40” award. This accolade is given only to up-and-coming business owners and entrepreneurs under the age of 40 who are shining examples of business excellence. Midlands Business Journal described Brad as “a classic American success story, having built a thriving skilled trades business from the ground up with his own two hands.” With more than 17 years of plumbing experience under his belt, Brad is truly a new leader in the industry. We are so proud of him to be given this award, for it reaffirms that he and the rest of our team always deliver top-quality, friendly, and competitively-priced plumbing services.

WOWT NBC News interviewed Brad to discuss a large influx of calls Big Birge Plumbing got during this holiday season. People all throughout our communities were experiencing frozen pipes in their home. If things go really wrong, frozen pipes can burst, spreading water damage throughout the home. During December, Brad helped client-after-client dealing with frozen pipe issues, and he shared his knowledge and advice freely in the interview.
The news article quoted Brad several times, including his advice for homeowners, “You don’t really know you’re going to have a problem until it happens, unfortunately, just because a lot of new homeowners don’t know their houses.”

The Omaha World-Herald, one of the most popular news publications throughout Omaha and the surrounding counties, posted a full-length article discussing the record cold and all the problems it can cause. As aforementioned, one of the worst cold temperature issues a homeowner can face is bursting pipes. Like WOWT NBC, the Omaha World-Herald came to Brad for his insight into the situation, quoting him in the article, and asking how to prevent frozen pipes from bursting.
“In my experience, the biggest cause is not enough insulation due to improper installation. You need to keep the proper amount of insulation between the outside elements and the pipe itself,” Brad said.
